About the artist
Dominika Farys was born in 1991 in Łódź, Poland, and has been living in Norway for over ten years. The landscape, nature, and spaciousness of the country have become an important source of inspiration for her work.
Her relationship with art began very early. As a young girl she loved drawing and painting, often taking part in art competitions. This passion has deeper roots in her family history. She owes much of it to her grandmother, who once dreamed of becoming an artist and completing an art school. At that time, however, her family could not afford to support such an education, and she eventually became a hairdresser. Nevertheless, her love for art never disappeared.
Perhaps that is why this passion never left her granddaughter either.
For more than seven years in Norway, she ran her own beauty business specializing in nail art. Creating small artistic forms on such a tiny surface taught her patience, precision and attention to detail. Over time, however, she discovered that her true place was in front of large canvases.
After closing her business, her path turned in a completely different direction. It was then that she realized that creating was not just a passion - it was the way she wanted to live her life.
Her artistic style is primarily abstract, often combined with raised textures and natural materials. She is drawn to works that can almost be felt as much as they are seen.
For her, the creative process is a form of meditation and complete immersion in the moment. She does not paint when she is having a bad day or when she does not feel the right mental space to create - even if it means postponing a deadline. She believes that art can sense and absorb everything. What she sees and feels during the process of creation is later experienced by the viewer.
That is why respect for the creative process is so important in her work.
